Hair Loss Product Review

The products available are many and varied, both in cost, and efficacy. In this article I can only give you some examples.

Rogaine for men  This says that it is for moderate loss and will take at least 4 months  before results can be seen- which at the rate hair grows seems reasonable. However it is only sold in 3 months supply, so you may be committing yourself to a second package without any noticeable result. It is also available in extra-strength form and is said to be clinically proven, though the company admits that it doesn’t work for everyone.

Folligen products these will improve the health of the hair that you have, but make no claims about regrowth. Some people say that these products irritate their scalp and even cause hairs to break.

Propecia this comes in tablet form and is approved by the FDA. However, some people experience side effects, and if treatment is discontinued your hair loss will progress.

Proxiphen  This is expensive at $100 for a months supply. Consumer reports vary considerably, so I suggest you think carefully before spending so much.

Revivogen This is said to be scientifically proven to reduce DHT production and to have no side effects for either men or women. User ratings vary considerably

Viviscal Despite some positive consumer ratings this is probably only useful if hair loss is due to dietary deficiencies, so why not improve your diet instead?

Saw Palmetto This is a herbal remedy. Those for whom it works swear by it, but, because it is not a drug,  it has not been properly scientifically tested.

Chinese Herbs  These have been in use for many centuries, so presumably have some value. However there are many of them on the market, and each product is a little different to the others. Like saw palmetto, they have usually not been scientifically tested.

These are only a sample of the many products available. There is no magic elixir. What works for some may not work for others, so check consumer reports – and no just those put out by the companies concerned.
