Stop Thinning Hair
In the majority of cases hair loss is due to male pattern baldness in which case there will be receding temples and hair loss on the
crown. In women hair loss caused by similar reasons will usually involve shedding all over the scalp.
If you suspect that your hair loss is for any other reason - if for instance it is accompanied by soreness, itching or redness or there
is a change in your general health you should consult a doctor , as you should if your hair is coming out at a very fast rate, falling out
in patches or you are loosing hair on other parts of the body. Illnesses such as diabetes and thyroid deficiency can cause hair thinning in women and men.
Solutions to the problem will vary with the cause – treating thyroid problems for instance should result in hair regrowth and the natural
return to balance of the bodies hormones in the year after pregnancy will also put matters right in almost all cases.
If your problem however is male or female baldness there are a number of options, some obtainable on prescription and some not. What isn’t available is on e
treatment that will provide rapid response hair growth for everyone. Hair grows very slowly, so even the most successful treatment will take a
while to produce results. A popular herbal treatment is saw palmetto. Propecia, Rogaine, Avodart and Proxiphen are other treatments that work in many cases. However you should ask your doctor if these are
suitable for you and discuss any possible side effects. Hair loss substances can have a huge range in price. Some have had clinical trials and
others have not. Saw palmetto for instance is considered a food supplement and so does not come under the jurisdiction of the
Drug Administration. This doesn’t mean to say that may not help.
Now what can you do to stop matters getting worse? Avoid tight hairstyles, rollers, excess use of curling tongs etc. Taking too much vitamin A
can cause these problems as can other medications including antidepressants.
The important thing is not to let the situation get the better of you. Be patient The situation may or may not change – growth is so slow that it
may take months to be sure there is a difference. And if you do get regrowth, good for you, but remember that if you stop using whatever has
helped you will see hair loss again.
