You aren’t being paranoid. You really are losing your hair. Every day the brush or comb is full. Something perhaps that you are reluctant to discuss with a partner or a friend, but there are plenty of chat rooms out there where you can exchange ideas and feelings can be expressed.
It is also a good way to find out about products without necessarily just relying on what the manufacturers or retailers say. Some web pages are full of amazing claims, but sometimes it is what they don’t say that counts. They tell you for instance that a product produces a certain percentage of increase in the number of hairs grown. They may not tell you that this may still not look like a full head of hair. They are sometimes quiet about side effects and almost always about the fact that products are expensive and that if you stop taking them your hair loss will soon be as bad as ever.
So ask others – What do they use? What does it cost? Would they recommend it? Are there side effects? - and so on.
Another point is that not all hair loss is routine. You may have some underlying problem such as a thyroid deficiency. So chat with someone else – your doctor. You also need to talk to him about any drugs that you buy over the counter as some can interact with other medication such as that for high blood pressure.
So talk, and talk again. It won’t make your hair grow, but it might help.
